v1.0229 · August 13, 2026
This release enables the customer facing screen to show live sale checkouts, created Quick Checkout access to enable staff to reach frequently used items without leaving the checkout screen, along with some minor improvements to billing.
New Features
- Customer-Facing Display (Kiosk Mode) — pair your customer facing POS screen (or any second screen) so customers can follow the sale live. Create a kiosk under Account → Kiosks, then on the second screen open pos.tacticalpay.com, sign out if needed, and click Kiosk Mode to get a six-digit pair code; enter that code on the register under Device pair code, click Approve Device, then Save. Once paired, add an item to the cart and pick the kiosk from the Share to Kiosk dropdown on the Checkout page — item names, quantities, subtotal, tax, and total update on the display as you ring. The selection sticks for every checkout until you log out. Works with the second screen in the TacticalPay hardware bundle or any tablet or monitor with a browser. Disconnect Device returns the display to its pairing screen; Disconnect Checkout releases the linked sale. Full walkthrough: Customer-Facing Display guide.
- Quick Checkout — Favorites & Checkout Search (v1.0) — the first step in a larger checkout overhaul. Enable it once under Account → Settings → Quick Checkout by setting Checkout Search to Show; this is an account-wide switch that applies to every user, not just the person who sets it. Build the list by clicking the ★ at the top of any item’s or service’s detail page under Manage Inventory → Inventory or Services. Starred entries appear in the Favorites Order panel, where up/down arrows set the exact order staff see and REMOVE un-favorites without touching the catalog record. At the register, clicking Add to checkout with nothing typed drops open your favorites in that order — one click adds to the sale; typing in the same box searches the full catalog by name or SKU. The payoff is on everything without a scannable barcode: FFL transfer fees, gunsmithing labor, range time — the charges that come up all day and otherwise mean leaving the sale to go find them. Note: firearms aren’t eligible, since serialized items follow their own disposition steps at checkout. Full walkthrough: Quick Checkout guide.
Refinements & Polish
We’ve made several smaller billing improvements to fix some customer billing errors. We’ve also improved the formatting of receipts and included some specific customer requests.

v1.0228 · July 30, 2026
This release expands Memberships with shared household plans, adds two new sales reports, and refines Work Orders and Start/End of Day reconciliation.
New Features
- Household Memberships. One membership can now cover multiple people, a family, a couple, a whole household. Designate one paying member, and every attached person gets their own linked customer record, full membership benefits, and their own membership card. At checkout, scanning any member’s card pulls up the shared membership and identifies exactly who’s standing at the counter.
- Sales by Category Report. A new report showing units sold, revenue, and net profit for every inventory category over any date range, so you can see your sales mix at a glance and tie it back to your closeout.
- Employee Sales Report. A management-only report breaking out each staff member’s sales by category, with per-seller subtotals, the foundation for commissions, bonuses, and knowing who’s closing.
Improvements
- Memberships: Set an end date on any membership, useful for promotional periods, seasonal plans, or fixed-term agreements.
- Memberships: Offer free memberships, great for VIPs, staff, or promotional signups — while tracking benefits like any other member.
- Work Orders: Removing an item from a work order now returns it to inventory automatically, and the work order stays open and editable until you mark it complete.
- Work Orders: Scanning an item tied to an open work order at checkout now surfaces an alert with the work order number and customer — so staff never sell inventory a customer is already waiting on.
- Start/End of Day: Invoice sales now hit your daily numbers when payment is actually received, not when the cart is rung, so your Sales Report matches the cash drawer.
- Start/End of Day: The Receivables column now shows every open invoice and layaway balance, and the end-of-day Cash Deposit is recorded on the ledger entry for a complete audit trail.
Refinements & Polish
We’ve made several smaller enhancements to keep checkout smooth and predictable: membership discounts now apply cleanly one at a time in priority order, the required Estimated Completion Date on work orders is clearly marked, service edits on work orders save with a clear confirmation, scanning an item that isn’t in your system keeps checkout tidy with no stray paused sales, and trade-in checks at checkout process reliably.

v1.0.224 · July 16, 2026
This release strengthens Memberships and FFL Boss integration, adds gift certificate scanning, and polishes checkout and account management.
Improvements
- Scan Gift Certificates. Gift certificates can now be scanned at checkout — same quick flow as membership cards, no manual lookup.
- FFL Boss Customer Sync. When a firearm is sent over from FFL Boss, the customer’s record now comes with it — name and details attached to the sale automatically, ready for checkout.
- Smarter Membership Billing. Recurring membership billing now automatically retries a failed payment up to three times before canceling the membership — so one declined card doesn’t cost a member their plan. And after three declines a membership is moved to the ‘Failed Memberships’ tab so merchants can see who’s billing failed and proactively reach out.
- Safer Membership Management. Deleting a membership plan now asks for clear confirmation and spells out exactly what you’re removing — so a plan with enrolled members can’t disappear by accident.
Refinements & Polish
We’ve also made a round of smaller enhancements: search on the Services tab now returns exactly what you’re looking for, item counts at checkout stay accurate as you adjust quantities, passwords are masked on signup and account editing with a show/hide toggle, and user roles have been streamlined by retiring the unused “Everyone” role.

v1.0.222 · July 8, 2026
This release was a series of small refinements to address issues with existing products, primarily memberships.
Refinements & Polish
- Memberships: Fixed a bug where not all membership plans would display if none of the 100 most recent customer memberships had those plans attached.
- Memberships: Fixed the membership billing cron job so recurring billing on memberships are timely charged.
- Memberships: Fixed a primary-key linking issue that would have grown into a larger problem over time.
- Gift certificates: Fixed an issue where not all gift certificates were showing at checkout.

v1.0.221 · July 2, 2026
This release launches our range management, overhauls start / end of day, adds gift card support, and various other improvements.
New Features
- New RangeManagr Add-On: Available as an add-on, this adds the ability to manage range lanes, take time based payments, and other essential features for shooting ranges.- New Work Order Module: Launched dedicated work orders management, enabling stores to track by due-date, assign jobs to specific employees, provide the customer with a customizable work-order receipt, take deposits, interim and final payments and track the status of a job. And a reporting feature that allows stores to see all in-progress work orders, and all completed work orders. Particularly useful for gunsmithing and special orders.
- Start/End of day: A full overhaul of the Start of Day / End of Day Register reconciliation process, including addressing multiple identified cash count discrepancies such as with layaways and to invoice sales. Made cash reconciliation easier with a dedicated bill count modal, and made any adjustments clearly tracked for auditing purposes.
Improvements
- Enabled Cash-Out Trade-Ins: Able to make negative sales, particularly useful for trade-ins where the customer is paid out in cash as opposed to merchandise or a gift card.
- Cart Improvements: For stores with members, scanning a customer’s membership card on checkout now shows their membership status and benefits, so that employees no longer have to click over to the membership page to confirm the members level or current status.
- Cart Improvements: Carts with only service items now have the ability to be paused and resumed just like carts with physical goods, useful during rush periods at the store.
- Specialized Transactions Improvements: Improved “to invoice” flow, and added invoicing tables and the ability for merchants to ‘write off’ bad debt layaways.- Services Improvements: Added optional cost tracking for services (e.g. cleaning, transfer fees, optical mount), so that shops can add their labor costs, and track the profitability of services they offer and get a clearer picture of what services are most profitable.
Refinements & Polish
- UI / Design: Fixed a modal layout issue, primarily on layaways, that was causing some buttons to be difficult to access.
- UI / Design: Removed unnecessary credit card processing setup information on TacticalPay POS cash only plans.
- UI / Design: Inventory classes now load faster, particularly useful for large shops.- UI / Design: Customer emails are now optional when adding a new customer, so that you can still track a customer’s purchase history, even if they don’t want to provide an email address.
- Improved Onboarding Procedure: Automated and enabled merchants to connect their own FFLBoss to TacticalPay POS within the account rather than requiring a manual connection.
- Bug Fix: Fixed an issue causing empty paused sales to be improperly created.

v1.0.216 · June 11, 2026
This release refines Memberships with receipts on signup and tighter control over what your staff can see.
Improvements
- Membership access controls. Owners and managers get tighter control over sensitive details. Employee-level staff now see a focused view of Memberships, without recurring revenue, the History tab, or plan creation, while still enrolling customers and taking payment.
- Membership receipts. Every new membership now creates a transaction, so you can print or email a receipt the moment a member signs up, just like any other sale.
-
v1.0.215 · June 5, 2026
Introduces monthly memberships and service management, plus two improvements to customer and tax handling.
New Features
- Monthly Memberships. Create tiered membership plans (Individual, Couple, Family, Corporate) with custom pricing and perks like ammo discounts, and store-wide savings. Build recurring revenue and customer loyalty.
- Scannable Membership Cards. Issue physical cards and keyring tags that scan on entry or at checkout to redeem benefits instantly. Lost card? Look members up by name or phone number.
- Service Management. Sell and track CCW classes, rental guns, gunsmithing, and special orders alongside your retail inventory.
- Special Order Deposits. Collect deposits up front, auto-track outstanding balances, and close out at pickup.
Improvements
- Customer Barcodes. Customers can now have a barcode, either issued by us or a custom one. Scan it at checkout to autofill the customer; scan it elsewhere to jump straight to their customer page.
- Flexible Sales Tax. Added support for edge cases where a location’s tax rate differs from your store’s usual rate (e.g., selling at a gun show).
- Inventory Ledger Accountability. Every inventory adjustment now records the staff member who saved it, a clear audit trail for shrinkage investigations and clean record-keeping.
Refinements & Polish
We’ve made a range of smaller enhancements to keep checkout smooth and reliable: customers now save automatically when added mid-sale, sales tax saves cleanly across all location-rate scenarios, and transaction views, customer logs, and customer navigation are all more consistent. We’ve also temporarily streamlined the checkout screen while we continue improving the Services workflow.
